A tape based Backup provides excellent protection against malware, cyber attacks and ransomware. The built-in air gap of LTO tape offers maximum security and an additional option for off-site storage. Together with P5 Backup, an automatic Backup for production data is a major pillar for professional data security and business continuity. Moving completed projects to a tape based archive preserves them for the long-term at unbeatable low cost.

Additionally, investment in constant expansion of production storage can be saved because archiving is the best method to create space on high performance storage. It keeps all important data accessible in one place and reduces the risk of data loss. Archiving also reduces the cost of storage, since tape offers the lowest cost per TB of any medium. Actidata’s libraries can be expanded to hold up to 560 slots for 6.7 PB.

To offer maximum data security, P5 Archive includes a cloning option, creating duplicate sets of tapes for off-site storage. For LTO tape, the parallelization feature provides scalability regarding performance. Multiple drives expand the number of backup/archive/restore jobs running simultaneously.

S3 Object Archive

The S3 Object Archive allows external products to access the power and flexibility of archiving to LTO and LTFS storage with the P5 Archive module. Compatible with Amazon S3 Glacier Flexible and Deep Archive storage classes, objects received via the S3 interface are archived with full management of tapes, drives, and libraries. Third-party software, including MAM, DAM, and PAM systems, can now effortlessly archive data, also to LTO tape, using their own S3 client interface.
